That from time to time many of the
Seamen and Marines of the China Squadron suffering from Syphilitic Cachexia in its worst form - come under care in this Hospital.
A large proportion arrive with shattered constitutions and prove quite intractable Medically :
At the approach of the hot season, it appears to me that a speedy Removal from China holds out the only hope of saving the lives of such men.
